Meeting of the Minds
The THIRD annual AIHE Teaching American History Grant Conference Thursday, Friday, Saturday, September 11-13, 2008 Bridgeport Holiday Inn, Bridgeport , NJ
In a continuing effort to perfect our services and develop strong relationships, we host the annual AIHE-Meeting of the Minds conference. We see it as a valuable opportunity to share information regarding the unique grant services we offer as well as an opportunity to welcome all of our new grant recipients into the AIHE family.
2007 Meeting of the Minds Presentation
This years conference will be again be at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn and will run each day from approximately 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Several guest speakers will appear on behalf of AIHE to cover the following topics:
Thursday, September 11th: AIHE History Teaching Methods
After the conference on September 11th, Dr. Kevin Brady will host a reception and tour of our headquarters (5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.) as well as dinner at the famous Botto’s Italian Line Restaurant (6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) in the center of historic Swedesboro. During this event, you will meet with AIHE staff, professors, master teachers, and educational specialists, as well as the other project directors attending the conference. Live entertainment will be provided by the American Stories Through Song Band, lead by Mr. Steve Missal, former drummer for Ted Nugent and Billy Idol.
Friday, September 12th: Best Practices for Effective Grant Operation
Following the events of the day on September 12th, Dr. Brady will host a dinner (6:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) at the Holiday Inn, Bridgeport, with additional entertainment provided by historical character actors portraying Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, and John Dickinson.
Saturday, September 13th: Optional Field Study Preview in historic Philadelphia
Expanding upon the professional opportunities and special surprises that we have planned for you, the staff of AIHE will lead a guided tour of Philadelphia on Saturday, September 13th. If you wish to extend your visit and sightsee while you are in the area, we would love for you to join us as we tour Philadelphia’s main attractions, such as Independence Hall and the National Constitution Center. We hope that everyone will take this opportunity to make the most of their stay.
